Walkability from 44 Long Wharf
Downtown Newport is genuinely walkable from the tender landing. Bowen Wharf, Thames Street shops, and the Visitor Center sit within 10–15 minutes on foot. The Point neighbourhood's colonial streets are a pleasant extension without needing transport.
Bellevue Avenue mansions and Cliff Walk are farther — 25–40 minutes walking — but achievable for fit passengers on 6+ hour calls. Many walkers taxi outbound and walk back downhill toward the harbour.

- Cliff Walk only: Taxi to Memorial Boulevard, walk south, exit to Bellevue for taxi back
When not to walk
On 4-hour port days, do not spend 80 minutes round-trip walking to mansions — taxi or focus on downtown and nearby Cliff Walk. In heavy rain, Cliff Walk rocks become hazardous — choose trolley or mansion interiors.
